Years back, I used a software on diet & nutrition. It cost me $19.95. At that time my eating instincts were poor and my nutrition knowledge was much below average. I used the software not for weight loss, but it greatly improved my diet & nutrition knowledge & instincts. I have practised that knowledge for years now and benifited.

I selected the second option, as I am only 10 pounds overweight and not in hurry to loose weight. I have no public appearance commitments.
That nearly sets up your system to get started. Now you can start entering daily meals taken.
You can search meals from the search box. If you do not find an exact match, you can enter the close match and change the quantity to reduce the amount of error going into the system.
Currently, there is no way you can enter your item and calorie value, so you have to use your judgment for select a food item that is close match for food actually taken.
The first day of using myfitnesspal. First day, I was at home whole day, it indicated I was taking more carbos & less protein. For me it is a helpful information.
Next day, I walked 2.5 KMs and added in the exercise . Hope I will continue with this.
Doing exercise daily will allow you more calories. It allowed me more carbos. So I added almond cookies for dinner.
To supplement my protein shortage, I took almond cookies instead of choco biscuits.
See the figure, I overshot a bi. Not bad. I was using a free online subscription for a service that was giving me a feedback. Kudos for developers & service providers.
Switched on my computer to enter my dinner diet for the day. Already feeling guilty for taking cookies, it was confirmed that I had taken more cookies to compensate for corbos. That meant, I will need to go for another 1 kilometer to burn the extra calories.
Did I go down and walk. I did not. I did like the infos coming from using MyFitnesspal.com software and am sure you will benifit from free membership & use of the online free calorie counting service .
