Intel ready to acquire Wind River systems for Approximately $884 Million

Intel has made a smart move (investment) by acquiring Wind River Systems maker of software for embedded devices - think smartphones, other consumer electronics devices, in-car “info-tainment” systems, networking equipment and the likes- in a deal valued at approx. $884 million. Intel has set its strategies to introduce next gen automobile technology. So the move was necessary to fullfill the requirement meeting the objectives of the company . Additionally Intel will increase its presence in embedded systems and mobile handheld devices outside of traditional PC and servers. Wind River has more than 1,600 employees and operations in more than 15 countries, and last reported annual revenues of $359.7 million.
