And Gogle Earth is still free to download and hopefully will remain free in future.
With the new feature you can lift off and zoom through 200 million galaxies and 100 million stars.
On the lighter side, if you happen to see traces of aliens and life, try if you can mark them like in Google earth. I have tried that so far.
Google collected massive amount of data from observatories and employed the same layering technique they used for Google Earth.
There are two layers, Galaxy Layer and Planet Layer.
The Galaxy Layer can let you enjoy virtual tours of several star systems in the galaxy including the Milky Way galaxy consisting of Sun and our planet system.
From the moon layer, you can see the lunar positions and phases animated.
