My best search experience - and I wasn’t feeling lucky

October 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Search engines are a great source of information. They are still evolving to deliver better value for every minute spent on the search engine. Google and many other search engines are now entering the second transition stage of evolution.

And that gap is being filled by niche and vertical search engines. Recently I was invited to deliver a lecture as a motivation speaker on “change Management in the era of technology convergence” to a group of managers. I wanted to give the example of Abraham Lincoln as the greatest human being & President of USA that tread the earth in living memory who showed the grit and determination to bring around the greatest change on earth by eradicating slavery. Wasn’t Abe Lincoln the architect & founder of modern day democratic world.

I wanted to know more about Abe Lincoln. A search on google presented me with 2.29 million results. I searched 4 pages and went for a cup of tea. I did not get the details of some interesting incidents suitable for my lecture. It seems through a touch of magic, I got the vertical people search engine, spock.com. Still half hopeful or may be quarter hopeful, I typed in Abraham Lincoln in the search engine box. I was in for a big surprise. I got all the details with enough incidents. I am working on them now to make them fit with my lecture on change management. So if you ever need to search for personal details of a celebrity or news on celebrities, here is now my favorite people search engine spock.com
