Worldwide shortage of skilled manpower - IT & BPO industries facing the boom and manpower shortages

October 8th, 2007 · No Comments

According to a study undertaken by global HR consultants, Manpower Inc, more than 40%  of employers are experiencing difficulty in recruiting suitable candidates in their job markets. While this creates demand pressures in developed economies, thereby increasing salaries of skilled manpower. This is one major reason for continued growth of IT and BPO industry in India and China.

While developed countries look towards India, China and other Asia countries due to lower wage rates, the problem of finding skilled manpower is surfacing in these countries.

For example, the educational system in India generates 3,00,000 engineering and 2 million graduates every year. Most these graduates need to be reskilled for durations of 3 months to 6 months before thay can be employed by IT & BPO companies. Add to this the high turn over rate and career shift by many  grduates in the first year further creates pressures on reskilling industry leading to continued shortage of skilled manpower.

Under the prevailing conditions, the only solution lies in upgrading & strengthening the training centes for reskilling the graduates to match the needs of the employers in Manufacturing, IT & BPO industry.

New innovations are needed to develop training modules by combining the power & flexibility of online training, claas room training and onjon simulated training.
