Vertical search engines - a new love for search addicts

November 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Search engines are a great source of information. They are still evolving to deliver better value for every minute spent on the searcg engine. Google and many other search engines are now entering the transition stage of evolution.
And that gap is being filled by niche and vertical search engines like
spock.com.

Spock works perfect when searching for people & celebrity search or news & issue based search .

Here is the example for global warming, you can embed the Spock widget code anywhere in the blog post or web site.

Recently I was invited to deliver a lecture as an
motivation speaker on “change Management in the era of technology convergence”.
I wanted to give the example of Abraham Lincoln who managed change the perfect way,
with the grit and determination to bring around the greatest change on earth by establishing the democractic values &
eradicating slavery. The political developments in USA travelled abroad and continue to influence the world thought positively today and will continue in future.
I wanted to know more about Abe Lincoln.
A search on google presented me with 2.29 million results. I searched 4 pages and went for a cup of tea.
I did not get the details of some interesting incidents suitable for my lecture. It seems through a touch of magic, I got the vertical people search engine.
Still half hopeful or may be quarter hopeful, I typed in Abraham Lincoln in the search engine box. I was in for a big surprise. I got all the details with enough incidents. I am working on them now to make them fit with my lecture on change management.
So if you ever need to search for personal details of a celebrity or news on celebrities, here is now my favorite people search engine spock.com
